James is a multifaceted creative professional who brings his diverse expertise in photography, video production, and both digital and physical design to his role as the Product and Visual Designer for Shift AI at Mach49. In this position, James is instrumental in shaping the user experience and visual identity of Shift AI, a cutting-edge suite of generative AI tools that power Mach49's venture building methodology.
With an exceptional ability to quickly master new technologies and an unmatched eye for detail, James excels at juggling multiple projects without compromising on quality or efficiency. His unique blend of skills makes him ideally suited to translate complex AI concepts into intuitive, visually appealing interfaces.
James's career began at Digital Foundry, a software engineering and consulting firm serving Fortune 500 clients across various industries. As a Production Designer, he created compelling sales decks, empathetic user interfaces, and engaging visual assets for web and mobile applications. This experience laid the groundwork for his current role in designing user-centric AI tools.
Later, as Art Director at the Commonwealth Club of California, James further honed his versatility. He produced a wide range of materials from photography to marketing collateral and branding, overseeing both physical and digital assembly of The Commonwealth, an internationally distributed magazine..
James holds a BFA in graphic design from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, providing him with a strong foundation in visual communication principles that he now applies to the cutting-edge field of AI product design.
When not crafting the visual language of Shift AI, James can be found with a camera in hand, capturing the world around him through photography of concerts, landscapes, portraits, and architecture. This passion for visual storytelling continually informs and enhances his work in product design.
